Special dates in 2027: palindromes, double dates and the best Saturdays for a wedding

8 min read

Planning a wedding, or just love a good date? 2027 is unusual: it has no full palindrome dates at all, and none of its double dates falls on a Saturday. Here is the complete list of special dates in 2027, with days of the week, the best Saturdays, and what a study of a million marriages says about choosing a special date.

2027 at a glance

In short

Why 2027 has no palindrome dates

A palindrome date reads the same forwards and backwards when you write its digits in a row: 22.02.2022 is 22022022. For that to work, the day and month have to mirror the year. For 2027, the mirror is 72.02 written day first, or month 72 written month first, and neither a 72nd day nor a 72nd month exists. The same is true for every year from 2023 to 2029.

FormatLast palindromeNext palindrome
Day first (DD.MM.YYYY)22.02.2022, a Tuesday03.02.2030, a Sunday
Month first (MM/DD/YYYY)12/02/2021, a Thursday03/02/2030, a Saturday
ISO (YYYY-MM-DD)2021-12-022030-03-02

Drop the zeros and use a two-digit year, and a few appear. In the day-first style, 7.2.27 (7 February 2027, a Sunday) reads 7227 both ways. In the American month-first style, July is full of them: 7/2/27 and all ten dates from 7/20/27 to 7/29/27, such as 7/24/27, which reads 72427.

Special dates in 2027: the full list

Without true palindromes, people look for other patterns: the same day and month, a day and month that mirror each other, lots of sevens or twos, or a day that matches the year. Here is every such date in 2027, with its day of the week. The “Number” column is the sum of all the digits of the date, reduced to one digit as numerologists do; we explain what each number stands for in our article on the personal year.

Look at the “Day” column: not one double date in 2027 is a Saturday. 4 April, 6 June, 8 August, 10 October and 12 December are Sundays, and 7 July is a Wednesday. If a Saturday matters to you, the highlighted dates are your best options: 20 February, 27 February, 27 March, 17 July, 24 July and 27 November.

A word about 7 July 2027. Exactly twenty years earlier, on 7 July 2007, 4,492 couples married in Las Vegas, still the city’s busiest wedding day on record. 7/7/27 is a Wednesday, but it is likely to be popular all the same.

Two economists at the University of Melbourne, Jan Kabátek and David Ribar, studied more than a million marriages registered in the Netherlands between 1999 and 2013. After allowing for the season and the day of the week, “special” dates such as 9.9.99 or Valentine’s Day attracted several times more weddings than ordinary dates, in some cases up to five times as many. In Las Vegas, 2,331 couples married on 2/22/22, even though it was a Tuesday.

Demand comes at a price. In the run-up to 12/12/12, the Associated Press reported that Las Vegas chapels were selling packages for that date at three times their usual off-season weekday price. The more popular the date, the earlier venues, photographers and officiants are booked.

Does the date affect the marriage?

The same study, published in 2018 in the Journal of Population Economics, found something less romantic: marriages on special dates had 18% to 36% higher odds of divorce than marriages on ordinary dates. By the fifth anniversary, about 11% of Valentine’s Day couples, 10% of same-number-date couples and 8% of ordinary-date couples had split up; by the ninth, 21%, 19% and 16%.

The researchers are clear that the date itself is not the cause. Couples who choose special dates are more often marrying for the second time or already have children, and the partners differ more in age and education. Once these differences are taken into account, the gap shrinks to 10% to 17%. The date does nothing to a marriage; it only says a little about the people who picked it.

How to choose a wedding date in 2027

  1. Start with meaning, not digits. The day you met, your first date or a date that matters in your family carries more weight than any pattern in the calendar.
  2. Book a special date early. For 20 February, 27 February, 17 July and 24 July, venues, photographers and officiants are likely to fill up well in advance.
  3. Consider a weekday. 7 July is a Wednesday, 9 September and 11 November are Thursdays. Weekdays are usually cheaper, and guests will not forget the date.
  4. Check the weather and holidays. New Year’s Day is a public holiday, and on Valentine’s Day restaurants are busy even without weddings. February is cold for outdoor photos; July can be very hot.
  5. If numerology speaks to you, treat the number of the date as a theme for the day, not a guarantee. Tradition most often links marriage with 2 (partnership) and 6 (home and family).

A wedding date is shared. A birth date is yours

Thousands of couples marry on the same special date, and all of them share the same “number of the day”. Your date of birth is different: with the year included, it describes you. A Sacred Avatar reading takes your full date of birth and turns it into 37 positions: your character, your sources of energy, your purpose and the lessons that keep coming back. Questions

Are there any palindrome dates in 2027?

Not in any full format. For a day-first palindrome, the day and month would have to be 72.02, and for a month-first one the month would be 72. The last palindromes were 22.02.2022 (day first) and 12/02/2021 (month first); the next are 03.02.2030 and 03/02/2030. Written the short American way, July 2027 has eleven: 7/2/27 and 7/20/27 to 7/29/27.

What are the best Saturdays for a wedding in 2027?

The most patterned Saturdays are 20 February (20.02, day and month mirror each other), 27 February and 27 March (the 27th in ’27), 17 July (17.07.27, three sevens), 24 July (7/24/27, a palindrome in the American short format) and 27 November. None of 2027’s double dates, such as 7/7 or 12/12, falls on a Saturday.

What day of the week is 7/7/27, and 12/12/27?

7 July 2027 is a Wednesday and 12 December 2027 is a Sunday.

Are weddings on special dates more likely to end in divorce?

On average, yes. A study of more than a million Dutch marriages found 18% to 36% higher divorce odds for weddings on special dates. The researchers attribute most of the gap to differences between the couples who choose such dates, not to the date itself.

Which wedding date numbers are considered lucky in numerology?

Numerology most often links marriage with 2 (partnership) and 6 (home and family). In 2027, for example, 20 February (a Saturday), 2 February and 11 November add up to 6, and 7 February adds up to 2. Treat the number as a theme, not a guarantee.
