Pythagorean Square Calculator

Enter your date of birth and the calculator builds your Pythagorean square, also called the psychomatrix or Pythagoras square: nine cells filled with your digits and eight lines with their totals. It uses the same classical method as a Sacred Avatar reading and runs in your browser, so your date is not sent anywhere.

How the calculator works

The calculator follows the classical method of the psychomatrix, as Alexander Alexandrov described it:

  1. The date as digits. Day, month and year are written as eight digits: 15 April 1452 becomes 1 5 0 4 1 4 5 2.
  2. First working number. The sum of all those digits: 22.
  3. Second working number. The sum of the digits of the first: 2 + 2 = 4.
  4. Third working number. The first number minus twice the first digit of the day of birth: 22 − 2 × 1 = 20.
  5. Fourth working number. The sum of the digits of the third: 2 + 0 = 2.
  6. The count. Every digit from 1 to 9 in the date and the four working numbers goes into its own cell. Zeros are not counted.

Each line is the total of three cells: the rows, the columns and the two diagonals. For a full worked example with every step explained, see Leonardo da Vinci’s square, step by step.

How to read the result

A line shows how strongly a broader theme is present: up to five it describes a settled level, from six upward a range you move within. The guide to the Pythagorean square describes every cell and every line.

Why calculators give different results

If another site shows you a different square, the method usually differs in one of four places:

Dates written in the old Julian calendar give a different square from the same day in today’s calendar. For anyone alive today this does not matter: use the date in your documents.

Calculator or reading?

The calculator shows the grid: how many ones, twos and threes your date contains. A Pythagorean square reading writes out what those digits mean for you, cell by cell and line by line, and reads the square together with twenty more positions from the same date. The chart is free; the full written report starts at US$9.99.

Questions

Is this Pythagorean square calculator free?

Yes. It is free, with no sign-up and no email. Enter a date of birth and the square appears at once.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The square is calculated in your browser, and the date is not sent anywhere. It reaches Sacred Avatar only if you choose to open your full chart.

Is the psychomatrix the same as the Pythagorean square?

Yes. Psychomatrix, Pythagoras square and Pythagorean square are names for the same grid of nine cells, calculated from a date of birth.

What does an empty cell mean?

In the tradition, an empty cell is a quality that is not given at birth but built through effort and experience. It is not a verdict. Most people have at least one empty cell.

Does it work for people born in 2000 or later?

Yes. The calculator uses the same four working numbers for every year. For some dates from 2000 onward the third working number comes out below zero; its digits are counted without the minus sign.

Why does another calculator show a different square?

Books differ on the layout of the grid, on dates from 2000 onward and on how zeros are treated. The cells mean the same thing either way. This calculator follows Alexander Alexandrov’s method, as a Sacred Avatar reading does.

Can the square predict my future?

No. The square is a symbolic language for reflection. It does not predict events and it is not a measurement of character.
